How to Clean a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace
March 21, 2018
Direct Vent gas fireplace can be a beautiful addition to any home. Without the need for wood, gas fireplaces typically stay extremely clean, as there is no soot or debris that causes any issues. This being said, there are a few reasons why your gas fireplace may start to show a little bit of a grayish film.
Naturally, because of the minerals from the fuel, you will most likely see a little bit of this film over time. Similarly, you may see a bit after the initial running of the gas fireplace but this is not necessarily likely. Condensation can also play a large factor, depending on the temperature of your home, as well as a few other factors.
What To Steer Clear Of
There are a few things that you will want to stay away from. This includes any cleaner that contains ammonia. This can be very harmful, so using a specific fireplace cleaning cream is the smartest move, but using an all-purpose cleaner with no harmful chemicals could work as well. Similarly, using nothing that could scratch the glass to wipe off cleaning liquids is always a good idea. Lastly, one thing to be wary of is using paper products to clean off the cleaning materials. People don’t think of this, but it should be avoided.
